Over the past two weeks, the Randolph Girls Softball team showcased its resilience through a competitive stretch of games, going 4-1 across five contests under bright spring skies. This strong run pushes the team’s record to an impressive 9-2 on the season.
In the first week, Randolph opened with back-to-back wins, defeating Phillipsburg 9-2 on April 13 and Roxbury 5-1 on April 14, before falling to Mount Olive 7-6 on April 15 in a close matchup.
The momentum carried into week two, as the Rams combined strong hitting and solid pitching to defeat both West Morris Central 11-1 on April 21 and Vernon 9-1 on April 22.

Game Highlights
Monday, April 13: Randolph 9, Phillipsburg 2
Randolph opened the first week with a dominant 9-2 win at Phillipsburg. Cassidy Smith led the offensive charge, driving in four runs on one hit, including a three-run home run in the first inning that quickly gave the Rams control of the game.
Hayley Arigo added to the momentum with an RBI single in the second inning to extend Randolph’s lead to 5-0. The Rams totaled 10 hits in the victory, with Isabella Schmidt, Daniella Gizienski and Arigo gathering two hits each.
Kayleigh McClain earned the win in the circle, pitching four innings while allowing just two hits and striking out three batters.
Tuesday, April 14: Randolph 5, Roxbury 1
Randolph continued its success on Tuesday, April 14 with a 5-1 victory at home over Roxbury. The Rams struck early in the second inning when Maddie Ryan singled to bring home the opening run.
After Roxbury tied the game, Randolph regained the lead in the fifth inning when Arigo delivered another RBI single to make it 2-1. The Rams offense stayed patient at the plate, drawing six walks and stealing five bases in the course of the game.
Gizienski guided the team with two hits, while Ryan, Smith, Schmidt, Gizienski and Arigo each recorded an RBI. In the circle, Breanna Colburn started the game and struck out seven batters over four and two-thirds innings before McClain closed the game to secure the win.
Wednesday, April 15: Mount Olive 7, Randolph 6
Randolph nearly finished a perfect week on Wednesday but fell in a heartbreaking 7-6 loss to Mount Olive during the team’s teacher appreciation game at Randolph High School.
Before the game, the Lady Rams honored teachers who have made an impact on their lives, inviting them onto the field as part of the celebration.
The Rams began strong, with Smith driving in a run in the first inning and later hitting a three-run home run in the third to give Randolph a 5-4 lead. Lily Zepp also contributed with a solo home run in the second inning.
Randolph regained the lead in the fifth inning when Ryan singled to score another run and make it 6-5. But Mount Olive regrouped in the sixth inning with a two-run double that proved to be the difference.
Smith had another standout performance, finishing 2-for-2 with four RBIs in the game. Despite the tough loss, the Rams showed strong offensive consistency and teamwork over all three games.
“Playing three games in a row is difficult for any team but we did a really good job of staying focused and having each other’s backs throughout the entire game,” senior captain McClain said at the end of week 1.
Smith also highlighted the team’s determination throughout the week. “We were able to stay focused by keeping our energy high in the dugout and focusing on one play at a time,” she said. “It is easy to stay focused when you are winning by a lot but we played some close games and I am proud of how we were able to keep the energy high and battle in each game.”
Colburn said the team remains motivated to move forward. “We can’t take any team lightly,” she said, “and no matter the team we play we should be playing to the best of our ability. Always.”
With the 4-1 stretch, the Rams continue to build momentum as the season progresses. Randolph hits the road next to face Red Bank Catholic on Sunday, April 26.
