For Randolph Boys Lacrosse, the 2026 season was one to remember. The Rams finished with a 16-7 record, made it to the Morris County quarterfinals and advanced all the way to the Group 3 state semifinals.
“This was my most memorable season ever playing under Randolph Lacrosse,” senior Trevor Cuonzo said. “I would go back and do it again with the same group 100 times over.”
Led by a talented group of seniors and underclassmen, Randolph proved itself as one of the top programs in North Jersey through dominant regular-season performances and a noticeable postseason run.
“It was a good way to end my lacrosse career at Randolph,” senior co-captain Nick Cirella said. “I’m closing this chapter of my book and starting a new one.”
Here are some of the biggest games from the Rams’ memorable season.
Season Opener Win Against Morristown, 12-3, on March 28
The season got off to a strong start on Saturday, March 28, when Randolph defeated Morristown, 12-3, at RHS. The Rams highlighted the balanced offensive attack that would define their season, with junior Everett Palumbo and senior co-captain Mark Manolis each recording three goals and one assist. Junior co-captain Ryan Barnett and Cuonzo added two goals each, while senior goalie Matthew DeVos made seven saves to help secure the victory.
Rivalry Game Win Against Morris Knolls, 12-4, on April 9
Facing one of the area’s top programs, Randolph controlled the game from the opening faceoff and earned a convincing 12-4 victory. Juniors Anthony Santoro and Ryan Barnett each scored three goals and added an assist, while Manolis and junior Ricky Fleischer contributed two goals apiece. DeVos anchored the defense with 12 saves as the Rams announced themselves as a legitimate contender.
MCT Opening Round Victory Against Roxbury, 15-2, on May 5
The Rams continued their success into the Morris County Tournament, opening with a dominant 15-2 victory over Roxbury on Tuesday, May 5. Santoro led the offensive explosion with five goals and two assists, while Barnett added four goals and two assists. Palumbo recorded a hat trick, and senior co-captain Cole Miller distributed four assists as Randolph advanced comfortably to the next round.
Senior Night Win Against Mendham, 13-8, on May 14
On Thursday, May 14, the Rams delivered another memorable performance. After entering halftime tied at five, Randolph pulled away in the second half for a 13-8 victory. Manolis led the way with four goals and two assists, while Palumbo and Barnett each scored three goals. Cuonzo, Cirella and Fleischer each recorded three assists, while DeVos turned aside 16 shots in one of his best performances of the season.
First Round State Tournament Win Against Wayne Valley, 17-7, on May 28
Entering the North Jersey, Section 1, Group 3 tournament as the No. 5 seed, Randolph took on the challenge. In the quarterfinals, the Rams overwhelmed No. 12 Wayne Valley, 17-7. Palumbo and Manolis each totaled seven points, while Santoro and Barnett contributed five points apiece. Eight different players scored goals as Randolph advanced to the sectional semifinals.
“Anytime I saw this squad out on the field you could sense the aura,” senior superfan Aedan Perez said. “I wish I could see them play one last time.”
Second Round Win Against Ramapo, 7-6, on June 1
The Rams then traveled to face No. 4 Ramapo with a spot in the sectional championship game on the line. Randolph jumped out to an early lead and held off a late rally to earn a hard-fought 7-6 victory. Santoro recorded a hat trick and an assist, Barnett added two goals and DeVos made nine crucial saves as the Rams punched their ticket to the sectional final.
“We were the underdogs in this one,” Cuonzo said. “Facing this type of adversity made the victory taste way sweeter.”
Sectional Semifinals Loss Against Chatham, 16-4, on June 3
Randolph’s postseason run eventually ended in the Group 3 state semifinals against Chatham on Wednesday June 3. The Rams faced a talented Chatham squad and fell 16-4 despite two goals from Palumbo and two more from Barnett. DeVos made nine saves as Randolph battled until the final whistle.
Although the season ended one game short of a state championship appearance, the accomplishments of the 2026 Rams will not soon be forgotten. Led by standout contributors including Palumbo, Manolis, Santoro, Barnett, Cuonzo, Fleischer, Miller, Cirella and DeVos, Randolph captured a sectional championship, finished with 16 victories and made a memorable run to the Group 3 state semifinals.
