Randolph Rams Girls Lacrosse finished the 2025-26 season with a record of 9-11, a huge change from last year’s disappointing 4-15 campaign. With help from new talent, the girls showed grit and teamwork, ultimately leading to their success.
“The season was so exciting, and the freshmen brought new energy to the team,” senior goalie Kathleen Saltz noted. “We showed our strengths and tweaked our weaknesses while challenging ourselves every day. Overall, we had really strong moments and the community of the team was unmatched.”
The Rams held strong early in the season despite losing a close 13-11 game to Watchung Hills. Three more wins playing West Morris, Jefferson and Mount Olive really carried the team’s momentum.
The four team captains–seniors Amelia Kolbik and Libby Boyko and juniors Ana Sharkey and Riley Minerley–all led the team throughout the strong season.
“The season went really well this year,” Minerley said. “We had a lot of new freshmen, so it was super exciting to watch them develop throughout the year and play such a big role on our team.
After two upsetting losses to Morris Knolls and Sparta, the Rams kept up their morale, leading to a historical first-time win over Mountain Lakes 6-5.
Some other important wins were Madison 13-7 and Montville 17-8, playing for the first round of the county tournament. The Rams then defeated Hillsborough 11-10 in overtime.
The team bounced back after four consecutive losses, beating Columbia 17-8 on senior night and securing another crucial win over Scotch Plains 14-5 for the first round of states.
“I feel like we played a great season, and I am especially proud of how we played as a team,” junior Caroline Crane said.
Junior Emma Gomez, freshman Madelyn Lufft, Minerley, Sharkey and freshman Kaitlyn Harth led the team in goals. These players will be vital for the upcoming season.
“My freshman lacrosse season was full of challenges, lessons and growth,” freshman Sammy Nieto said. “Every game taught me something new and helped me become a stronger player and teammate.”
The team ended the season with a lovely banquet at Meadow Wood on Wednesday, June 3.
The Rams look forward to more success in the coming 2026-27 season.
