RHS senior Seannah Parsons made international headlines after becoming the top-ranked U.S. triple jumper and the No. 10 U20 girls triple jumper in the world. Parsons achieved this milestone with a remarkable leap of 43 feet, 1/2 inches at the Carifta Games last spring in St. George’s, Grenada.
“All my hard work has paid off, and it has finally made me more confident in my abilities on the track,” Parsons said. “I know that my future in track is bright.”
At the Carifta games, Parsons proudly represented her home country of Trinidad and Tobago.
“My consistency in training and decision to represent my country came from wanting to make Trinidad and Tobago proud,” she said.
Parsons recently committed to the University of Texas at Austin, where she will compete as a Division 1 track and field athlete.
“I am very excited to compete at a collegiate level because hopefully it will help me progress further,” Parsons said. “I think the coaching staff will help me develop my full potential.”
Her ambitions don’t stop there, however.
“As for how far I want to go in track, my dream would be competing in the 2028 Olympics,” she said.
The road to Parson’s track and field success started in the Randolph Recreation track program during childhood. From there, she continued to develop her skills, becoming a varsity sprinter and jumper in her freshman year of high school and then working with private coaches to further elevate her performance.
With a combination of natural athletic talent, dedication and determination, Parsons has already established herself as one of the world’s top young triple jumpers. As she prepares for the next chapter of her athletic career, her Olympic dream appears well within reach.
