RHS Theater will present the hit musical “Mamma Mia!” from Thursday, April 16 through Saturday, April 18.
The story follows single mother Donna Sheridan and her engaged daughter Sophie, who is preparing for her wedding. When Sophie secretly invites three of Donna’s former boyfriends to the ceremony, Sophie is left with the task of finding out who her biological father is and deciding who will walk her down the aisle. As the wedding approaches, Donna finds herself uncovering old memories and long-buried emotions, leaving her conflicted about which man, if any, still holds a place in her heart.
Rampage spoke with several cast members about their roles and excitement for the upcoming production.
Liam Rose as Harry
Senior Liam Rose is not new to the RHS stage. His favorite past credits include Professor Plum in “Clue” and Aaron Samuels in “Mean Girls.” Rose cannot wait to play Harry, the posh British musician from Donna’s past, in the show.
“I love being able to make a character come to life and find nuances in the script,” Rose said. “It is my favorite part of the process, and it is why I love doing this as a hobby.”
Sami Walker as Sophie
Sophomore Sami Walker, who plays Sophie, has also built an impressive résumé. From Jack Kelly in “Newsies” to Wednesday in “The Addams Family,” Walker’s versatility and love for performing make her shine on stage.
“ ‘Mamma Mia!’ is going to be a high-energy production that is amazing for all ages and fun for everyone to see,” Walker said.
Jeffrey Allen as Sam
Junior Jeffrey Allen, last seen as Colonel Mustard in “Clue,” is excited to play Sam, one of Donna’s former lovers.
“I’ve always been drawn to performing; it feels very authentic to me,” Allen said. “Learning about a character and story and then leaving my emotions on stage as a vessel for that story is very fulfilling.”
Sophia Dominguez as Tanya
Sophomore Sophia Dominguez portrays the sassy and confident Tanya, Donna’s best friend. Previously seen as Cady in “Mean Girls” and in leading roles in community theater, Dominguez is eager to take the stage once again.
“I am so excited to perform in ‘Mamma Mia!’ What an incredible mega-musical,” Dominguez said.
