RHS hosted Snow Ball, its first-ever winter formal, drawing more than 200 students, on Friday, Feb. 6, 2026. The success of the event paved the way for the return of a homecoming dance for the 2026-2027 school year.
“It was truly a beautiful night being able to see and experience all four grades united as one on the dance floor,” said Jarred Veljkovic, Class of 2027 president.
Randolph is one of the few high schools in the area without a homecoming dance, which was terminated years ago due to lackluster attendance.
This year, however, increased student demand for the return of homecoming led administrators and student leaders to organize a winter formal as a trial event. School officials said if at least 200 students attended, a homecoming dance would be reinstated.
The Snow Ball, held in the high school Commons, was open to all grade levels. More than 200 tickets were sold, meeting the benchmark needed to bring back homecoming.
At the formal, light refreshments, including water, desserts and snacks, were provided. Members of the Student Council and Executive Board spent countless hours preparing for the event, including decorating the Commons to fit the snowball theme.
“It was super fun to hang out with my friends and the music was good,” junior Evie Bukh said.
Executive Board advisers Michele Adriano and Brian Hoesly created a coalition of Student Council leaders and Executive Board members to plan and execute the Snow Ball.
“The winter formal was a success,” Adriano said. “We are excited that there was a good turnout as it gives the Executive Board Council the green light to host a homecoming dance next school year.”
The Student Council raised funds for the event—with much of the money coming from the school’s annual Call-a-Thon—and worked with community partners to organize it. Maschio’s Food Services provided desserts, the school’s transition program supplied snacks from the Ram Shop, North Jersey Entertainment served as DJ and Veljkovic designed a balloon display.
School officials said the Snow Ball was a one-time event, as plans are now underway for a homecoming dance next year.
“I had low expectations for the event and to my surprise, they exceeded them,” junior Russell Goldstein said. “It was well planned and executed.”
The student government body at RHS deserves praise for holding a successful winter formal and bringing back homecoming in the 2026-2027 school year.
