Randolph Girls Cross-Country ended the season on top, with a historic finish. The girls were three-peat champions, taking first-place in the NJAC, Morris County, and State Sectional finals, and finished their ninth season at group championships.
“My favorite part about the season was seeing everything come together when it counted most,” sophomore Julianna Young said.
So much went into the long season, which started with summer training way back in August. Through the hot days of preseason, the team’s goal was to prepare early, to be ready for the races to come.
Their hard work paid off when the team saw early success in the Six Flags Wild Safari Invitational on Sept. 27, 2025, placing third overall. Senior captain Lilah Willis helped lead the team, placing fourth overall for varsity.
The girls moved on to become NJAC champs on Oct. 14, 2025, winning it for the first time since 2017. Willis and Julianna Young rounded out the overall top 10, earning sixth and 10th place; sophomore Samantha Cerulo took 13th; freshman Grace Carey earned 15th and junior Jaidyn Young rounded out the top five in 21st place.
“Our team has been very close since the start, and we knew that we had to work harder for each other,” Julianna Young said.
With the season moving quickly, the team had little time to rest going into the Morris County Championships on Oct. 21, 2025. Despite this, the Rams came out on top, securing the dominant win against rival Mendham High School, with four of seven Randolph runners finishing in the top 20.
“This season was very exciting and rewarding,” senior Liliana Colasante said. “We all put in a higher level of work this year and it definitely paid off.”
The Rams wasted no time, quickly getting ready to dominate at the Group Sectional Championships on Nov. 1, 2025, where they took the trophy home once again. Again, the girls had four runners in the top 20, with Jaidyn Young close behind in 23rd place and sophomore Anjali George in 34th and Colasante rounding out the team in 41st place.
“Since we got so far, our training definitely got faster and we ran stronger as a group, compressing our 1-5 time,” said Julianna Young on the training throughout the season.
The team finished strong at the last meet of the season, the NJSIAA Group championships on Nov. 8, 2025. With an overall finish of ninth place, the team was recognized as one of the top teams in the state.
The team had a victorious season, rewriting history for the Girls Cross-Country program.
“One thing I will definitely take away is how important teamwork is on morale and overall success,” said Colasante on her senior season. “Every girl in cross country is a working piece, and everyone has to be on board to achieve our goals. I will miss all of them.”
