Despite a small, seven-man roster, Boys Swimming has delivered several competitive performances that defy its current 0-7 record. The squad narrowly missed victories against Morris Hills (77-69) and Mountain Lakes (94-71), while also facing tough losses to powerhouse competitors such as Delbarton (116-51) and Roxbury (101-65).
“This season has been filled with highs and lows, but our team bond has only strengthened,” junior TJ Wangchuk said.
Unfazed by the odds, the team remains committed to fighting for a win through the remainder of the season and into counties, fueled by continued energy and passion.
The swimmers have focused on refining small but crucial details, from starts off the block to flip turns from the wall, in the hope these changes will result in their first victory.
“This season has been full of strong attempts from the boys to win meets,” junior Gabriel Diaz said.
Notable swimmers include junior Gavin Drazek, who continues to prepare to place in competitions, making a name for himself on the local stage.
The team is also optimistic about making a statement at counties. “We have an opportunity to make an impact during counties with our current race times,” head coach Krystal Hoffman said.
Boys Swimming will look to close out the regular season on a strong note @ West Morris on Thursday, Jan. 29.
