Beloved RHS English Teacher Daniela Greenwood was recently named a 2025-26 Governor’s Educator of the Year.
“Being named teacher of the year feels like a dream,” Greenwood said. “I am so proud to receive this honor, and I’m grateful to all those I have learned from who have made me a better teacher–especially my past and present students.”
RHS students and staff agree that Greenwood is a dedicated teacher who consistently brings positivity and warmth into her classroom. “She goes above and beyond for her students each day,” RHS Principal Jessica Baxter said. “She never hesitates to meet with students before school and at lunch. Mrs. Greenwood teaches a variety of classes and works hard to provide rigorous activities while letting students know how much she cares about them.”
Greenwood’s teaching philosophy reflects that commitment. “My main goal is to create a classroom that is student-centered and fun,” she said, “one where students are encouraged to take risks with their learning, feel empowered in their skills, know they are respected, appreciated and valued, and feel challenged to keep learning, reading, writing and thinking.”
Students agree that Greenwood successfully creates a welcoming classroom for everyone. “Mrs. Greenwood makes learning tough material more fun and engaging, giving us the opportunity to share our idea and learn from mistakes,” said junior Gavin Drazek, a student in her AP Language and Composition class
“Mrs. Greenwood has made an impact on my learning experience as she has turned learning into a more positive experience,” said senior Sasha Jampol, a former student. “Her learning environment is full of interactive activities with a fun and enriching classroom.”
Baxter noted that Greenwood’s impact extends beyond the classroom. In addition to serving as the advisor for Lit Club, she is a dedicated supporter of multiple sports teams and township events. “You can always see Mrs. Greenwood at games, concerts and the town library supporting our students,” Baxter said.
Greenwood offered advice to students who aspire to become teachers. “Keep learning,” she said. “There are so many wonderful aspects of public education, and one of my favorite parts is that education and students are always evolving—teachers will never feel bored in a classroom.”
