Despite opening the season with two losses, Randolph Boys Swim remains optimistic after falling to Morristown on Thursday, Dec. 4 and Chatham on Wednesday, Dec. 10
After graduating several key seniors, the team faces a big challenge this season with a small, eight-man roster. This is not ideal for the sport, but the team’s goal is still to work hard to keep scores as close as possible.
“Although we lost, I think the team did well with our small roster,” junior Gabriel Diaz said.
Here’s a look at Randolph’s first two meets of the 2025-2026 season.
Randolph versus Morristown: Thursday, Dec. 4
In its season opener at CCM, Randolph lost to Morristown 96-66 on Thursday, Dec. 4.
To open the meet, seniors Elijah Jacob, Raihan Prakash, Gabriel Bonatti, and Ilya Andrianov competed in the 200-medley relay. They started the race strong, pushing for every meter, but ultimately placed third behind Morristown.
As the pressure built, the Rams fought back and added points on the board. Diaz captured first place in the 200 free, providing an early spark for the Rams.
The team maintained that energy with a series of individual firsts from junior TJ Wangchuk in the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly, junior Gavin Drazek in the 100 free, Diaz in the 500 free and senior Marco Holder in the 50 free and 100 breaststroke.
“We do not have a large roster, but every swimmer pushed themselves to the limit,” Wangchuk said.
Ending the meet, Wangchuk, Diaz, Drazek and Holder found their spirit and finished with another first in the 400 free relay, earning a big win for the small but mighty team.
Randolph versus Chatham: Wednesday, Dec. 10
Despite some great swims, in their next meet against Chatham, the Rams fell hard, losing 41-127.
Wangchuk earned second in the 200 IM, scoring high for the team. With Drazek and Holder also earning second in the 50 free and 100 free respectively, the team is showing its commitment to the season.
The Rams meet Morris Hills next on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025.
