As the 2025-2026 Rams Wrestling season storms in, the team is gearing up for the demanding season ahead. With a new coaching staff, new wrestlers and an improved game plan, the Rams are eager to prove theselves in one of the grittiest public-school wrestling divisions in the state. 

“The new coaching staff knows how to lead a team, and the practices are now short and efficient leading to enhanced team longevity,” junior Rayan Taherapour said.  

Last season, the Rams finished with a 5-16 record. Unsatisfied with the results, the team implemented a grueling program of preseason workouts in hopes of turning the tide.

With decisive wins in scrimmages against rival schools such as Mendham and Parsippany, the team is aiming to dominate the division. Yet, in this highly demanding sport, the Rams will need to fight with everything they’ve got for their spots on the state stage.  

Despite graduating seven seniors last year, key returners including senior captain Andrew Zeidman, junior Aiden Madyag-Williams and Taherapour are ready to fill their shoes.  

Each season, Rams wrestling opens its campaign in the Caldwell Tournament consisting of powerhouse teams such as nationally ranked No. 5 Delbarton, Caldwell and Passaic Tech. Last year, the Rams finished last with a score of 44.5.

This year, the Rams are determined to achieve a top score, putting them into position to win another sectional championship, like the one they earned in the 2023-2024 season.  

“Many starters graduated, which set us back as a fairly young team,” Madayag-Williams said of the 2024-2025 season. 

“This year, I am loving the team chemistry,” sophomore Manny Samaniego added. “Everyone is looking fantastic in preseason practices, and I, along with my team, am exited to leave it all on the mat this season.”

The Rams are fired up for the months ahead. Their first dual match is Saturday, Dec. 13, at Dover High School.
