The 2025 World Series between the Dodgers and the Blue Jays had something for everyone: back-and-forth games, stellar play and unforgettable moments. In the end, the Dodgers edged out the Blue Jays 5-4 in a dramatic Game 7 on Nov. 1, 2025, capturing their second straight championship.
“This was the best World Series I’ve ever watched,” junior Drew Milberg said. “Every game came down to the last out; it was entertaining from start to finish.”
Here are some highlights—and lowlights—from the series:
Game 1: Blue Jays Take It, 11-4
Game 1 kicked off on Oct 24. in Toronto. This marked the first World Series game for the Blue Jays—hosting or away—since 1993. After being tied 2-2 throughout the game, Toronto broke the game open with a nine-run offensive explosion in the sixth, capped by a grand slam from right fielder Addison Barger. The Jays cruised to an 11-4 win.
Game 2: Dodgers Answer With a 5-1 Win
In Game 2, Toronto’s offense was shut down. Dodgers starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitched a complete game. He only surrendered one run and struck out eight batters. His performance helped the Dodgers climb back into the series at one game apiece with a 5-1 win.
Game 3: LA Takes It Again in 18 Innings, 6-5
The Dodgers would take Game 3, which lasted 18 innings over the course of six hours, tying it for the longest World Series game ever. Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman hit a walk-off home run to give LA a 2-1 series lead in a 6-5 win.
“I was shocked when I woke up and realized the game went 18 innings,” freshman Jake Shuster said.
Games 4 and 5: Blue Jays Bounce Back, 6-2 and 6-1
Games 4 and 5 were both won by the Blue Jays, 6-2 in Game 4 and 6-1 in Game 5. The Blue Jays had solid team performances and an all-around effort from the likes of first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and pitchers Shane Bieber and Trey Yesavage.
Game 6: Dodgers Deliver, 3-1
Leading the series 3-2 and a win away from a championship, the Blue Jays were set for their third World Series championship. However, the Dodgers won Game 6 off another great performance from Yamamoto.
There would be a Game 7, the first since 2019.
Game 7: Dodgers Win 5-4 in the 11th, Go Back-to-Back
The final Game of the 2025 MLB season had everything. A three-run home run from Toronto second baseman Bo Bichette got the Blue Jays the lead, and it stayed that way until the ninth inning.
Two outs away from losing the World Series, it was Dodgers second baseman Miguel Rojas who tied the game 4-4 with a homer.
Game 7 was going to extra innings.
In a stalemate for all the extra innings, it was catcher Will Smith for the Dodgers who homered and took the lead in the 11th inning.
That was enough to secure it for the Dodgers, who became the first team to win back-to-back World Series championships since 2000.
For many fans, however, it wasn’t about the win; it was about the game. “Nothing gets better than the World Series,” junior PJ Wolak said. “It’s the two best teams in baseball.”
