RHS students raised over $10,000 for breast cancer research at Morristown Memorial Hospital at the school’s 2025 Call-a-Thon on Tuesday, Oct. 22.
“It’s a great opportunity to raise money while at the same time reconnecting with people in the community,” senior Aedan Perez reflected.
Participants included student council officers, sports team captains, and members of various clubs and organizations. Their successful donation requests raised more than just funds for an important cause. “When you get a lot of people to volunteer, it really brings a sense of unity and school spirit,” senior Ian Pietrucha said.
Before the event, each student created a list of 25 contacts to call for donations. During the Call-a-Thon, participants competed to see which class could raise the most money—a title that went to the sophomores. Top individual fundraisers received prizes such as tote bags, water bottles and Dunkin’ gift cards. An endless supply of pizza slices kept energy and spirits high throughout the hour-long fundraiser.
“This was the most successful fundraiser this year,” said Michele Adriano, student council advisor an event organizer. “By the end of the week, we raised a little over $18,000. It is important because, although it seems like a trivial task, the end result makes a big impact to charity. I am so grateful for all of the students and all the clubs that took the time out of there week to participate in this year’s fundraiser.”
By the end of the night, student leaders had raised $10,500 in just one hour, contributing to the $18,000 total collected by RHS during Spirit Week.
