RHS celebrated its annual Spirit Week from Monday, Oct. 20, through Friday, Oct. 24. Students and staff showcased their Randolph pride with a different dress-up theme each day, leading up to the pep rally and homecoming game on Friday.
“I was really happy to see an increase in participation and overall spirit at the pep rally,” junior Jasmine Abdelnaser said.
The week is about more than just school spirit, however; students also fundraise for a chosen charity. This year, students participated in a Call-a-Thon that raised more than $18,000 for breast cancer research at the Carol W. and Julius A. Rippel Breast Cancer Center at Morristown Memorial Hospital.
“I really enjoyed being able to do the Call-a-Thon this year for Spirit Week because it was a good way to raise money for an important cause in a short amount of time,” junior Ruhi Shah said.
Monday: Pink Out Day
On Monday, students were covered head-to-toe in pink to support breast cancer awareness, which brought together RHS staff and students for an incredible cause.
“Pink Out was my favorite theme because I had a bunch of pink clothes I could use to go all out,” junior Aarika Dubey said.
Tuesday: Adam Sandler Day
On Tuesday, staff and students went to school dressed like Adam Sandler, wearing oversized shorts, shirts and sweats.
“I loved dressing up like Adam Sandler because I liked raiding my dad’s closet,” junior Cosette Basa joked.
Wednesday: Blackout Day
The following day, on Wednesday, students showed their unity by dressing entirely in black.
“This year there was a lot more participation, especially because of the simpler themes like Blackout and USA,” junior Jolina Weng noted.
Thursday: USA Day
Red, white and blue filled the halls on Thursday as students displayed their patriotism, wearing the colors of the flag and bedazzled in stars and stripes.
Friday: Ram Pride Day
Friday was Ram Pride Day, where students wore school colors according to grade level—navy blue for freshmen and seniors, white for juniors and sophomores—ending with the ever-popular Pep Rally at the football field.
Students and staff agreed that the week was a huge success, not only for bringing everyone together, but also for raising nearly $20,000 for cancer research. Spirit Week showed that Randolph pride remains strong and extends far beyond the classroom walls.
