The RHS Marching Rams competed at the University of Delaware in the Band of America (BOA) Mid-Atlantic Regional competition on Saturday, Oct. 25, finishing in 27th place.
The band performed its themed show “Watched,” which features selections from “Severance,” “Psycho” and “Vertigo,” as well as Rockwell’s “Somebody’s Watching Me.”
This marks the first time the Marching Rams performed at the University of Delaware and the third time performing at the BOA Mid-Atlantic Regional, which took place at Rutgers University in past years.
Students described the day as being both exhilarating and educational. “It was an amazing experience, and I am so happy I was able to go,” sophomore Camila Rufino said. “It was the perfect trip.”
The band enjoyed performing in a new venue and appreciated the chance to see other bands in action, sparking excitement for the state competition this weekend. “Having the opportunity to perform at such a high-level event was amazing,” senior Gaby Davila said. “I was very impressed with our band’s dedication and enthusiasm throughout the day.”
“I am very proud of the Marching Rams for their stellar performance at the Bands of America Regional at University of Delaware,” Band Director Nick Fantazzi said. “Bands of America is a premier marching circuit in the country. They provide a high-quality experience for the students and educational feedback from the best adjudicators in the country. Just to perform among the other amazing bands in attendance is an honor.”
From late night rehearsals to the final performance, the Marching Rams demonstrated dedication and teamwork. The show’s unique theme challenged the musicians to integrate intricate choreography with dramatic musical selections, creating a memorable experience for both the performers and the audience.
The band looks forward to ending the season on a high note at the state competition this coming Sunday, Nov. 2, at TCNJ, where they will perform their full show for the last time this year.
