Four senior student-athletes celebrated a major milestone on Nov. 14, signing letters of intent to continue competing in their respective sports at the collegiate level. The event, held in the school’s Media Center, highlighted their achievements and the next steps in their academic and athletic careers.
Rylie Van Wingerden signed to play women’s soccer at Loyola University, Maryland. “I’m excited to meet new girls and have a whole new team because I’ve been playing with the same club team since I was in third grade. So, I’m excited to have a new experience,” Van Wingerden said.
AJ Terry signed to play men’s baseball at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. “I’m most excited for playing at a higher level and being surrounded by guys who have the same goals as me and who I can relate to,” Terry said.
Giuliana Pozzi signed to play women’s lacrosse at Costal Carolina University, South Carolina. “By staying kind and positive I will better integrate myself into the team and create new friendships,” Pozzi said, when asked about the lessons she plans to carry with her from high school to college. “Goal setting will encourage me to keep working harder and compete against the athletes and not compare myself to them.”
JoJo DeNegri signed to play women’s soccer at Yale University, Connecticut. “The recruitment process was an exciting and rewarding experience,” said Denegri, reflecting on her recruitment journey and the sense of accomplishment it brought. “Visiting schools and talking with coaches gave me a glimpse of what life could be like as a college athlete and helped me pick the best fit for me.”
The signing day event celebrated the hard work, talent and determination of these student-athletes, who successfully balanced the demands of academics and athletics to reach this significant milestone. Surrounded by family, friends, and coaches, these talented students marked the beginning of the next chapter in their athletic careers.
