Randolph Girls Volleyball won their second game of the season against Montville, 2-1, on Thursday, Sept. 14, at Montville High School, bringing the Rams’ season record to 2-3.

“This was the best we have played all season,” Head Coach Sheri Data said. “We executed all the things we have fixed in practice.  Everyone played aggressive, smart volleyball.”

The girls worked together as the whole team contributed to the big win. Sophomore Jazmine Holder led the team with 7 kills, 1 block and 3 digs. The senior co-captains also scored well; Megan Geuther had 6 kills and 8 digs, Dora Katstanos had 4 digs and 15 assists and Samantha Einfieldt had 19 digs.

“Our girls really worked hard today. Everyone looked to put the ball down and earn our points instead of just keeping it in play,” Geuther explained. “This game really showed what Randolph volleyball is and what we can do. I’m super excited to keep practicing and grow even more as a team.”

In the second set, as the offensive side started to settle in, so did the defensive side. With Einfeldt guiding fellow team members toward their success, Randolph came back with a thrilling 25-22 win.

“I think it was really our best game of the season,” freshman right-side hitter Viki Katsanos said.
“Montville is a tough team, a division above us, and that was a driving factor for why we wanted to win so badly.”

In the third set, Randolph was able to dominate in both skill and energy, winning 25-19. “The bench was cheering, which boosted the team morale,” Katsanos said.

Randolph hopes to start a winning streak against Pope John today, Monday, Sept. 18, starting at 4 p.m. in the Main Gym at RHS.
