Randolph Girls Lacrosse dominated Mount Olive, 19-4, at home on Wednesday, May 10. It was also senior night, which made it an even more memorable win for the team.

Alexis Rodell led with the most goals, scoring 5. Taylor Santoro led in assists with 4. She was also the top point earner, getting 9 between goals and assists.

“Overall, I think the team did a really nice job of seeing the field, seeing the feeders, hitting the open cuts and playing as a unit and not individually,” Varsity Coach Jillian Picciuto said.

The girls started off strong, annihilating the opponents with a score of 13-0 by the end of the first half. They won almost every draw and made good defensive plays. “Speaking as a defender, the team executed a backer style defense and did it like we have never done before, resulting in a shutout at the end of the first half,” Co-Captain Danielle Blumenthal said.

Mount Olive mounted a strong offense, scoring their first goal in the middle of the second half, and three subsequent goals by the end of the game. This only led Randolph to step up their game, however, resulting in an additional six goals for the Rams. “I feel like we collectively worked together, all toward the same goal; we worked as one instead of as 12 individuals,” Co-Captain Alexis Fleischer said.

“I think our overall team chemistry, being able to see how our teammates play, being able to work with each other, find the open cutters, see the field, see what’s working, see what’s not, has been awesome,” Picciuto added.

The Rams now have a record of 11-5 (8-4 NJIGLL). They play next at Montclair Kimberly Academy on Tuesday, May 16.
