Starting with Teacher Appreciation Night on Jan. 17, boys basketball brought home three more wins, with an equal number of losses in the mix, bringing the season record to 6-12 as of Jan. 28.

After beating Sparta, 41-36, on Jan. 14, the team won a second straight game, this time against Pope John, 59-50, on Jan. 17, which was also Teacher Appreciation Night. At the pregame ceremony, seniors on the basketball and cheer teams honored the teachers who have impacted them the most throughout their high school careers.

The senior athletes who selected appreciated teachers were Sean Clark, Jake Jenisch, James Kratchovil, Michael Nowlin, Hans Petit Frere and Joey Tomaino. The senior cheerleaders who honored their teachers were Arabella Mechanick, Katelyn Liston, Kaitlyn Ruane, Sydney Bibbo, Ashlie Allen, Crismarie Lorenzo and Ella Barbra.

Following the ceremony, the Rams ground out a victory for their teachers, beating the Lions, 59-50, to improve their record to 4-9.

After the successful stretch of back-to-back wins, the Rams fell into a mini slump, winning only one of their next four games, including a defeat on Jan. 26 at the hands of the West Morris Central Wolfpack, 51-50, on Jan. 26.

However, a significant win was just around the corner, with the Rams trouncing the Butler Bulldogs, 55-29, at the preliminary round of the 2023 Morris County Tournament on Jan. 28. Randolph is currently seeded 12th out of 26 teams in the tournament.

The Rams play at Mendham next, on Thursday, Feb. 2, in round two of the Morris County Tournament.
