Beloved science teacher Dr. Krista Seanor was recently named the Randolph High School Teacher of the Year for 2024-2025.
“She is an outstanding teacher who exhibits a passion for learning and is always seeking to build strong relationships with her students,” said Principal Jessica Baxter, adding that Seanor enriches the instructional setting with her “energy and confidence.”
Colleagues agreed that Seanor deserved this award for a multitude of reasons, including her enthusiastic demeanor, incredible teaching abilities, collaboration skills and personable and helpful nature with students. Others said she works hard to enhance her students’ learning and is constantly focused on adapting her lessons to their needs.
“I feel so honored to receive this award, as there are so many amazing teachers here at RHS,” Seanor said. “Also, the decision was made by a committee of teachers, so it’s very humbling to be chosen by my peers.”
Current and former students raved about her classes, saying she is an impactful teacher, not only in her dedication to the craft of teaching, but also in her ability to connect with students. “Aside from teaching me biology, Dr. Seanor truly taught me how to be a better student,” said junior Alexis Apirian, a former student.
“Dr. Seanor is kindhearted and truly cares about her students,” added junior Sydney Wright, also a former student. “She helps all her students get the best grades they can and holds small meetings for students when they’re confused or need extra help.”
Even though Seanor said her primary goal is educating her students on content, she noted that she also incorporates enjoyable activities into her lessons that help make students eager to learn. “While I want my students to learn a lot and be challenged by my classes, I also want them to have fun in class,” Seanor said. “So, I try to do labs and projects that are interesting. I consider it a win if I hear them talking about something they learned in class.”
In addition to teaching, Seanor is also the Key Club advisor. “She is so helpful and involved in our club,” said senior Elizabeth Bukh, a student leader in the club. “She has inspired me to make the community a better place and to get involved in things that I am passionate about.”
Congratulations to Dr. Krista Seanor on her well-deserved recognition; she is an inspiration to students and colleagues alike.
