Randolph Girls Volleyball had a challenging but dedicated season, ending with an 11-11 record.
“Overall, the season was successful,” Head Coach Sheri Data said. “Each player had individual development that led to a successful finish.”
The team started off with some tough losses against Montville 2-0, Mendham 2-0 and Mount Olive 2-1.
“Whenever there was an issue, we would come together as a team to figure out solutions and how to implement them into practices and games,” senior co-captain Caitlin Sciubba said.
This showed when the Rams bounced back and went on a three-game winning streak from Sept. 25-27, beating Pope John 2-0, Hanover Park 2-1 and Chatham 2-0.
Two players showcased their talents during the Pope John game, namely sophomore Josephine Schiedel with six kills and junior co-captain Ashley Silvestri with three digs.
Sophomore Klara Hindson also set a season record of 33 assists in one game against Hanover Park.
“In fact, many broke individual records this season in stats like digs, assists and kills,” Data said. These records include Hindson achieving a career high of 350 assists in the 2024 season.
As the team moved into the middle of the season, the players were able to benefit from their team chemistry. This put them into an impressive five-game winning streak from Oct. 14-23, beating Parsippany Hills 2-0, Pope John 2-0, Dover 2-0, Hanover Park 2-1 and West Morris 2-1.
The girls found their rhythm during these games, with junior Regan Galloway achieving 14 kills and junior Jazmine Holder having 17 digs against Hanover Park. Sciubba had 11 digs to secure the win against West Morris.
The Rams finished their season in frustration, however, with a series of losses against Mendham 2-0 on Oct. 25 and Chatham 2-0 on Oct, 29, and another early loss in the NJSIAA Tournament against Morris Knolls 2-0. This led to the Rams unfortunately ending their season in the first round of the tournament.
Despite this, junior Kayla Nowlin and Galloway were active on offense, both earning four kills against Mendham. Also, during their match against Chatham, Hindson and sophomore Viki Katsanos led the game in assists, getting 12 and 10 respectively by the end of the game.
In the end, the girls were proud of how far the program has come and the team’s dedication this season. “I don’t think I’ve been on a team with such great communication,” Sciubba said.
“We tried to stay positive and support each other after each game, win or lose,” Hindson added.
