Randolph Girls Soccer faced a tough, 2-1 loss against Morris Knolls on Tuesday, Sept. 24. The game took place on Teacher Appreciation night, which honored 10 senior players and their favorite educators.
The match began with Randolph on the offensive, outshooting Morris Knolls 5-1 in the first 15 minutes. Junior Carlie Wysocki scored the first goal of the game just before halftime, giving Randolph a 1-0 lead.
The second half intensified as Morris Knolls tied the score with a free kick, making it 1-1. With just a minute left in the game, Morris Knolls secured a late goal, sealing the match at 2-1.
“Yesterday was a tough loss for us; we played hard the whole time and unfortunately couldn’t get the result we were looking for,” Wysocki commented. “We had some great moments where we were able to connect well and create opportunities, but we were getting unlucky and could not find a second goal.”
Randolph worked hard on every end of the field, with senior striker JoJo Denegri and sophomore outside back Lulu Wenger showing excellent efforts.
“Our team was disappointed with our play coming out of the weekend, and overall, we felt it was a good response,” Assistant Coach Matthew Horner added. “It’s a shame we weren’t rewarded with the result we felt we deserved, but sometimes that’s the case when a few calls don’t go your way. We know we play the game the right way and are happy we get at least one more shot at redemption.”
Randolph looks to bounce back against Mount Olive on Saturday, Sept. 28, at 9 a.m.
