The Randolph Girls Volleyball team continues to make history this season, surging through the Morris County Tournament (MCT) and capping an emotional week with a Dig Pink victory to honor Breast Cancer. Here’s a recap.
MCT Quarterfinals: Randolph Defeats Roxbury 2-0 on Saturday, Oct. 11
Randolph opened the MCT with a hard-fought 2-0 win over Roxbury. After falling behind early, the Rams battled back with powerful kills from junior Aleksandra Jankowska and sophomore Reese Nelson, while senior Jazmine Holder anchored the defense with digs.
“We did a great job maintaining a high energy level throughout the game,” Nelson said.
Randolph’s intensity carried the team to a 25-18, 25-23 sweep to advance to the semifinals.
MCT Semifinals: Rams Edge Past West Morris 3-2 on Tuesday, Oct. 14
In the MCT semifinals, Randolph took on a tough West Morris team and rose to the occasion with one of the team’s strongest performances of the season, beating the opponents 3-2.
The Rams showcased sharp communication, consistent serving and relentless defense.
MCT Finals: Randolph Makes History with First-Ever County Championship Win on Saturday, Oct. 18
At the MCT finals, the Rams accomplished what no previous Randolph Girls Volleyball team had done, winning the Morris County Tournament Championship with a 3-0 sweep over Morris Hills.
Randolph dominated early with Jankowska getting kills, Nelsons serving runs and junior Viki Katsano blocking.
“It feels amazing to be part of this team that just made Randolph Girls Volleyball history,” Holder said.
Head Coach Sheri Data added, “Our team motto this year is no regrets: leave it all on the floor. There is no pressure when you have that mentality.”
Dig Pink Game: Playing for a Purpose on Tuesday, Oct. 21
Just days after their championship win, the Rams returned home for their annual Dig Pink game, defeating Parsippany Hills 2-0 in a dominant performance. The event, held during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, saw the Rams trade their usual uniforms for all-pink gear in support of the Side-Out Foundation, a non-profit breast cancer charity.
“Raising awareness for breast cancer is super important to me because so many individuals suffer from it,” senior captain Ashley Silvestri said.
The girls will take on Pope John next on Thursday, Oct. 23.
