The Class of 2026 enjoyed a scenic cruise around the New York Harbor for the annual senior trip, held on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2025.
This year’s seniors lucked out with the weather, spending a beautiful sunny day on the water with their classmates, while cruising past famous New York City sights, including the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
“Years ago, when this trip started, the students were looking for a new way to come together as a class to celebrate their senior year,” said Dean of Students Lindsay Reilly, who coordinated the event.
Friendly RHS staff greeted the seniors as they boarded the ship. Many students made a beeline for the food buffet, which included make-your-own tacos, veggies, salad, chicken tenders and the ever-popular mac and cheese. Dessert offerings included cookies, brownies and fresh fruit.
“The day was a great way to get away from the stresses of senior year,” senior Caitlin Sedorak said. “It was a nice distraction from college applications and schoolwork.”
After eating, many seniors made their way up to the top deck for views of the Statue of Liberty and NYC skyline that became the backdrop for picture-taking with friends.
The cruise featured music for the students to enjoy, and there were big tables on every level, so the seniors could relax and talk with friends.
“I think the thing I enjoyed the most was taking the day to hang out with friends and the views,” senior Amelia Kolbik said.
Overall, the senior boat trip was a success, and the students and staff chaperones enjoyed having a day off from school to spend with classmates and colleagues. “I enjoy seeing so many seniors come together and have a great time,” Reilly agreed.
