As the only freshman on Randolph’s Girls Volleyball team, Karoline Hindson has made an immediate impact, helping lead the Rams to an undefeated 10-0 record.
“I was thrilled when I found out I had made the varsity team,” Hindson said. “I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to play at a higher level.”
Just a month into the season, Hindson has already earned a place in the starting lineup. Playing as a defensive specialist, she has recorded six kills, 15 digs, seven aces and 40 service points so far this season.
These are impressive stats for a player who began competitive volleyball just over two years ago. Her rapid rise highlights her determination, grit and passion for the game.
Hindson’s stats aren’t all that prove she’s ready to compete at the highest level. She also displays good sportsmanship, bringing energy to the team, contributing to key plans and consistently cheering on her teammates.
Randolph Head Coach Sherri Data praised Hindson’s proficiency and power in the game. “Her game speed, skill level and strength were all varsity qualities and the rationale for putting her on varsity as a freshman,” Data said.
In Randolph’s match against Morris Knolls on Sept. 12, Hindson also excelled in the front row as an opposite hitter, contributing three kills, one block, two digs, one assist and six service points.
“One thing I would like to accomplish this season is improving my consistency,” Hindson said. “I want to be able to consistently put the ball down with my swings and deliver a hittable set, even off a difficult pass. By becoming more consistent, I can help my team stay aggressive on offense and give us the best chance to compete in every game.”
Senior co-captain Ashley Silvestri said she’s excited to watch Hindson’s growth: “I cannot wait to see Karoline improve as both a player and a person. I know she will do great things. She puts in all the work in order to achieve success.”
With Hindson’s continued development and the team’s overall strength, Randolph will look to keep its winning streak alive when the Rams head into their next match on the road against Morris Hills, on Tuesday, Oct. 7.
