The Randolph Girls Volleyball team made sure Senior Night ended in celebration, defeating West Morris Central 2-0 on Friday, Sept. 26.
“It was awesome to win on our Senior Night,” senior Jazmine Holder said. “It means so much to be a part of the team during moments like that.”
“The chemistry and drive each girl possesses makes this whole team so special,” senior Ashley Silvestri added.
Before the match, Randolph honored its seniors with a heartfelt ceremony giving recognition to the following: Silvestri, Holder, Regan Galloway, Kayla Nowlin and statistician Lillian Elterich.
In the opening set, the Rams came out strong and built an early lead. Behind sharp serving and strong net play, Randolph kept momentum on its side.
Nowlin and Galloway proved to be the dominant duo. Their timing on blocks was in sync, and they were able to seal off many of WMC’s hitters.
Sophomore Maria Fuentes rose up for the decisive kill, sending the home crowd into cheers and ending the set 25-19.
The second set turned into a back-and-forth battle of tied points. The Rams leaned on steady serving and strong net play. In the final points, they pulled away to win 25-20 and complete the sweep.
“The atmosphere was incredible and every player on this team was focused on one thing: sending out seniors out with a statement win,” Nowlin said.
The following week, Randolph Girls Volleyball carried its momentum into Monday’s match against Chatham, earning another strong victory, winning 2-0.
The girls played with confidence and control from the start, keeping their pace fast and limiting Chatham’s chances to respond.
Beyond the win, the night was filled with accomplishments. Holder reached a career milestone of 300 digs, a statement to her relentless defense and ability to keep rallies alive. Junior Klara Hindson added to the celebration by surpassing 50 kills and 700 assists, showcasing her impact on the court. At the net, Galloway established herself as a force with her 50th block, and Nowlin powered her way past 50 kills on the year.
The Rams will take on Hanover Park on Wednesday, Oct. 1, at home.
