Randolph Girls Soccer honored its seniors before defeating Morristown 4-1 on Senior Night, Friday, Sept. 26.
“Being honored as a senior felt unreal,” senior Reina Daniel said. “It was a super fun experience though, and we all had a great time.”
As the team warmed up before the game, all non-senior players wore shirts featuring baby photos of the honorees: Carlie Wysocki, Jamie Donnelly, Pia DiGregorio and Daniel.
Before kickoff, the seniors walked out with their families and were greeted with flowers and baskets made by the undergraduates.
Within the first five minutes, freshman Elyse Karol served the ball into the box, allowing Daniel to finish and give Randolph its first goal.
Randolph continued pressing, and DiGregorio assisted sophomore Macie Wysocki to make it 2-0, just 15 minutes in.
The second half opened with another quick strike, as Karol set up sophomore Dana Cozza in the first minute to extend the lead to 3-0.
Morristown tightened defensively, but DiGregorio added to the total with a goal in the final five minutes to make it 4-0.
“My freshman year we had a losing season, but we worked our way up to now being one of the top seeds in the state,” senior co-captain Wysocki said. “We have grown so much to have better team chemistry and execute on the field to evolve into the team we are today.”
Morristown responded less than a minute after the kickoff, cutting the score to 4-1. But it was not enough to stage a comeback, and Randolph secured another victory.
Three days later, on Monday, Sept. 29, Randolph beat Sparta 2-0, bringing the season total to 9-1.
The Rams will face Kittatinny next, on Friday, Oct. 3.
