The RHS Field Hockey team faced a tough challenge against Montville, falling 4-0 on Thursday, Sept. 19, and dropping its season record to 1-4-1.
“It’s easy for me to say that we are a team filled with pride,” junior co-captain Allison Ferry said. “Win or lose, we look for a way to improve every single day and to maintain positivity,”
The game remained close through the first three quarters, with the Rams holding Montville to a single goal. Randolph’s defense stood strong, highlighted by several key stops and multiple saves by freshman goalkeeper Mia Briganti.
“This team is very hard-working,” Briganti said. “You’ll see them trying their best to get the ball in the goal. They have great connection on the field.”
Freshman defender Lily Miller helped anchor the back line alongside senior co-captain Bowie Manning and sophomore Leah Wiberg, keeping Montville’s offense at bay through most of the match.
Heading into the fourth quarter, Montville led just 1-0. However, a late offensive surge saw them net three more goals in the final minutes, putting the game out of reach.
Despite the final score, Randolph continued to play with discipline and determination.
“Defense is a great help when I’m in goal—they really try their best to stop the ball. This is a team full of great girls,” Briganti said.
Ferry echoed that optimism, saying, “I’m looking forward to the rest of our season. We have made tremendous improvements, and it’s not over yet.”
Randolph looks to bounce back in its next matchup against Hackettstown on Monday, Sept. 22.
