Randolph Rams Cheerleading honored its three senior members—varsity co-captains Katie Ellermeyer, Samantha Schachter and Rachel Sukoneck—during the Football team’s home opener against Mount Olive on Friday, Sept. 12, which also served as Senior Night.
The celebration included senior members of the Cheer team, Football team and Marching Band—all part of the Class of 2026—who participated in a pre-game ceremony and walked down the field with their families.
The night was a celebration of the seniors’ leadership and dedication to the team. Each senior was honored with flowers and a sash, proudly worn during the game.
Ellermeyer, Schachter and Sukoneck have been involved with Rams Cheerleading since before middle school, dedicating years of hard work to the program.
“The thing I’ve appreciated most about Randolph Cheer is the people and experiences it brought me,” Ellermeyer said. “Working with people toward a common goal has brought me friends and memories I wouldn’t trade for the world.”
A three-year varsity team member, Ellermeyer is known for leading by example. “I plan to lead by encouraging positivity, patience and growth,” she added.
“I’ll mostly miss the incredible atmosphere of cheering at football games and supporting each other every step of the way,” Sukoneck said. “Randolph cheer showed me the importance of teamwork and pushing myself to be the best I can be. Being part of the team gave me unforgettable memories and friendships.”
Schachter echoed the sentiment: “Randolph Cheer has been one of the biggest parts of my experience at RHS. It gave me a second family, taught me discipline and helped me balance school, athletics and personal growth.”
The captains acknowledged that cheerleading wasn’t always easy—between daily practices and long Friday nights on the sidelines—but their commitment to the sport earned them their well-deserved leadership roles.
“I’ve tried to lead by example—showing up, staying positive through challenges and always supporting my teammates,” Schachter said.
As the Senior Night festivities wrapped up, the cheerleaders were surrounded by coaches, teammates and family—all there to celebrate the girls’ final season at RHS.
The Randolph Cheer team will return to the sidelines at the Rams’ next game against Morris Knolls on Saturday, Sept. 20.
