Randolph Softball celebrated its seniors before beating Whippany Park 4-0 on Senior Night, Monday, May 12.
Before the game, the Rams held a Senior Night ceremony, where they honored seniors Rebecca Dasti, Autumn Liebhauser, Hannah Bermudez, Olivia Madayag-Williams, Brianna Vega and Camryn Browning and welcomed the parents of the players. The underclassman had put together baskets featuring the colors of the seniors’ respective colleges, which they presented to their teammates.
Following the ceremony, the Rams started off the game strong, with Liebhauser earning a home run for the team, and junior Daniella Gizienski earning a hit.
“Before big games, we bring a lot of energy and get each other hyped up,” Liebhauser noted. “If someone’s having a tough moment, I remind them that they’ve got it and help them stay in the game mentally. A good mindset makes a big difference.”
The team also saw strong performances from junior Lily Zepp and Dasti, with one hit each.
Junior pitcher Kayleigh McClain was strong on defense, only allowing seven hits for Whippany Park, zero walks and six strikeouts.
Junior catcher Cassidy Smith also took control on defense. “I need to stay composed throughout the whole game and help keep my pitcher focused,” Smith said. “I try to keep my energy high and let my teammates know what I’m seeing at the plate and in the field.”
With crucial communication, the team got into a groove, earning four runs throughout the game and a crucial and well-deserved win for the seniors.
The Rams are scheduled to play @ Phillipsburg next, on Thursday, May 15, at 4:15 P.M.
