“It was our last meet with most of the team, so it was a really nice way to end the season together after working hard all winter,” senior co-captain Mia Mugavero said. “As a senior, I’m really proud of the team’s successes this year. This winter season has made me even more prepared and eager for the spring track season.”
Mugavero and freshman Samantha Cerulo wrapped up the meet with strong performances in the 800-meter race. Mugavero placed 45th with a time of 2:36.64, while Cerulo finished close behind in 48th, clocking 2:37.54.
The team competed against an impressive range of athletes from across the region, making their accomplishments even more notable. With the winter season coming to a close, the girls are looking ahead to their next challenge.
“I am proud of our young team as it is progressing and growing,” Ball commented on the meet. “It was fun to watch over 500 athletes compete in their events and have them see us compete as well. We use these invitationals to get PRs and work on our race plans. I learned how to run my races better as well. I am optimistic about our team in the next coming year.”
With a good performance and good season under their belts, team members now look ahead to the spring season for even more improvement and comradery.
