RHS staff and students capped off Spirit Week with the 2024 Pep Rally, held at Bauer Field on Friday, Oct. 11.
At the rally, the bleachers were filled with students from every grade level showcasing their Ram pride and school spirit in their blue-and-white Spirit Week T-shirts. “The whole school came together in blue and white,” sophomore Kate Lyons noted. The drum line performed throughout the entire rally, which helped keep up everyone’s energy levels.
The event started with the senior class tradition of “storming the field.” Then RHS Choir members sang the national anthem, which was simultaneously signed by the American Sign Language (ASL) honors students. “I was so proud of all of my students that performed at the pep rally,” ASL Teacher George Giousios said. “They put so much hard work into it, and it really paid off.”
Next up, advanced and intermediate dancers made their seasonal debut alongside varsity cheerleaders with a performance choreographed by Dance Teacher Michele Adriano.
The Pep Rally offered many activities for students to participate in, including a tug-of-war, giant volleyball game, frozen T- shirt relay, 4×100 relay and water balloon toss. Seniors won the tug-of-war, giant volleyball, frozen T-shirt relay, and boys 4×100, which put them in the lead for grade-level points accumulated during the week. The juniors were not far behind, however, winning the girls 4×100 and balloon toss.
The rally closed with a performance by the junior varsity and varsity cheer teams, while students waited in anticipation to hear which grade level was the overall winner in Spirit Week points.
A cheer went up from the stands as the seniors were named the week’s winners, with the juniors in second, the sophomores in third, and the freshman in last place.
