Twelve senior members of Marching Band, three of whom are section leaders, were honored at this year’s annual Senior Night, on Friday, Sept. 6.
Before the kickoff of the season-opener football game, the 12 seniors came onto Bauer Field with their parents to commemorate their last season at RHS. The seniors who were honored this year are Ash Hariharan, Angela Remick, Ashley Rondon, Riley Brown, Dane Fordahl, Gerald Creighton, Leah Weinstock, Arrow Lseva, Priya George, Roanna Buan, Samantha Castillo and Basil Kaminski.
“Our senior class this year is strong but mighty,” Marching Band director Nicholas Fantazzi said. “We have a lot of great musicians and people in our senior class. They help all the younger students in our band this year as well, so we are really going to miss them.”
“Playing in the band for four years has been an amazing experience,” said senior Priya George, the high brass section leader. “It’s not just about the music, but about the friendships, the teamwork and the memories we’ve made together. Every performance has been a chance to grow and improve, and looking back, I realize how much I’ve learned and how far we’ve come as a group.”
“Being in marching band has been such a meaningful experience, and my high school years would not have been same without it,” drumline leader Leah Weinstock said I got to meet so many wonderful people and for that I am so grateful!”
For this year’s halftime show, the RHS Color Guard joined the Marching Band to perform “Metropolitan,” from the 1989 film about a group of young, wealthy New Yorkers, and Taylor Swift’s “Welcome to New York.”
In preparation for upcoming competitions, Color Guard members had learned complex formations during practices and their hard work was evident in this stunning new halftime show. “I think that this year we’ve really stepped up our game,” said sophomore member Alexa Rosenbaum. “Hopefully, it will help us to rank higher in competitions this year.”
The RHS Marching Band will perform next during halftime at the Randolph football game against Morris Knolls, on Sept. 20 at 7:00 p.m.
