As the 2024 Field Hockey season approaches, the Rams can expect big things in the upcoming season. The team will be returning stronger than ever, with a lot of key veteran players. After losing 1-0 to Warren Hills in the Quarterfinals of the NJSIAA Tournament last October, the Rams are ready to come back strong this season.
“This season is looking optimistic; we have key defensive players returning like Daniella Gizienski and Bowie Manning that will be able to keep away offenders,” senior co-captain Kayla Pentz stated. “As captain, I hope to inspire this team to produce more wins this season and to overall have more team work as a unit.”
Randolph has key starters returning, such as goalie Jessa Altemose and midfielder Irene Pardo along with top scorers Avery Gamsby and Catalina Martinez. Senior co-captains Morgan Heller, Rebecca Dasti, Lindsay Bona and Kayla Pentz are ready to inspire and lead the team to an exciting season.
Chatham will again be one of Randolph’s top teams to defeat in the upcoming season, as there has been a long-standing rivalry between the two teams.
Randolph finished last season with a 12-6-1 record, with the first crucial games of the season being a 3-0 loss to Chatham, a 2-2 tie with West Morris and a 1-0 loss to Mendham. After a rough start, Randolph brought home the victory for three straight games, leading to a more hopeful spirit for the remainder of the season. This positive attitude will continue into this season and will allow the program to grow closer both on and off the field.
However, the loss of two top scorers, captains Joelle Yurchuk and Riley Novak will be a challenge, but under the leadership of head coach Gina Adickes, Richard Salmon and Kelly Lambert, the program should easily be able to recover. With the team’s mix of strong underclassmen such as Ella Astorino and talented returners, the team can expect to see a successful season.
“I feel like the team will grow with confidence, and communication by supporting each other, and I am looking forward to having a good last season with my teammates and enjoying the final moments,” Dasti stated.
Although facing a tough division this season, the Rams are ready to fight back and produce a winning record. Support the Rams at their first game against Chatham at Bauer Field on Sept. 5, starting at 4:00 p.m.
