Following the Oct. 18 win, the Rams continued their dominance with a 2-0 win over Hanover Park on Oct. 20. Their next game was @ Ramapo, in the first round of the NJSIAA tourney, which the Rams unfortunately lost, 2-0, on Oct 26. Here’s a look back at the team’s stellar Oct. 18 win.
Randolph Girls Volleyball defeated West Morris Central, 2-1, on Wednesday, Oct. 18, at RHS.
The Rams played a hard-fought match that started strong. As the first set began, the Rams took an early lead of over 10 points. With senior captain Samantha Einfeldt leading the back row with three aces and 22 digs, the girls picked up the hits and serves by the opposing team. Senior Megan Geuther ran the front row with seven kills, three blocks and five digs. Freshman setter Klara Hindson racked up four aces and nine assists along with senior setter Dora Katsanos, who made 15 assists, two digs and four aces. The Rams managed to win the first set with a score of 25-23.
Randolph and West Morris Central were neck and neck in the second set. After Randolph called a time out, the girls tried to get their heads back in the game. Following some intense back and forth play, however, the girls unfortunately lost the second set with a score of 25-19.
Randolph was determined to win the final set. The Rams struggled to extend their lead in the third set until the score reached 24-19. Randolph only needed one last point, but Central bounced back, taking the score to 24-24. After some competitive play, Randolph saw victory at 27-26, with Klara Hindson making the game-winning ace.
“We finally got a W; we have gone 19 days without one,” Coach Sheri Data said.
