Members of the Dance Outreach club are busy developing plans for the new school year. The club fosters dance and encourages participation from all local students, whether or not they go to a Randolph township school. All that’s required is that the students be passionate about dance; with or without prior dance experience.
“Dance Outreach is a community-based program designed to offer dance to children both in and out of the district who have limited access to the art form,” Club Advisor Michele Adriano explained.
The program strives to promote an inclusive atmosphere that allows all students to enrich their lives and increase their confidence level through dance.
“A goal for our club this year is to spread the positivity and greater involvement of dance throughout the schools of Randolph,” senior Kathleen Gilligan said.
Senior Lily Jens explained that there are a many different types of opportunities for Dance Outreach volunteers, including dancing with the RISE students as well as preschoolers at RHS. Club members can also “reach out to elementary schools to incorporate dance into gym classes, assist in the Randolph Middle School Musical and more,” Jens said. She also noted that the club is planning a donation drive, staffed by Dance Outreach members who do not want to dance but who still want to participate in the club.
“The presidents and people involved make Dance Outreach so welcoming, positive and exciting,” said sophomore Lilianna Colasante, who’s an active member of the club and dance program. “There are so many ways that you can get involved.”
Editor’s Note: Students interested in joining Dance Outreach can stop by the Dance Studio, Room 307, to get more information on how to become involved and participate in upcoming events.
