“Will that be Cookies & Creme or S’mores flavor?” senior Zach Power asked a customer who wanted to purchase a box of his eponymous, hand-made Power Fudge at a recent bake-sale fundraiser.

The sweets lover asked for the former, and Power handed over the box of fudge to another soon-to-be satisfied customer.

In the two years since he launched Power Fudge, Power has proven himself to be a dedicated entrepreneur, working hard to hand-make every box of fudge in the many flavor options he currently has available, including the aforementioned ones. This year, as a senior enrolled in the Option II program, Power has enjoyed rapid growth in his burgeoning business.

An avid fundraiser, Power has held several bake sales recently for his high school clubs and teams. His latest was for the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), held in the main lobby of the high school on Dec. 16.

There, this favorite treat of both students and faculty drew quite a crowd. Power and other club members sold 50 pounds of fudge for a total revenue of about $200. The normally affordable price of the fudge was lowered even further to allow more people to contribute to this fundraiser, whose goal was to help the club offset the cost of regional testing.

“It was a huge success, and I’m thankful for having the opportunity to work with FBLA,” Power said of the FBLA sale. “Mrs. Roberts and the rest of the board were so helpful, and I look forward to hopefully doing more work with them in the future.”

FBLA advisor Martel Roberts agreed, saying, “The Power Fudge fundraiser was a great success due to the coordination and help of so many people.”

Power has also fundraised for other school-related groups, such as the boys soccer team.

Power’s growing success as a fudge entrepreneur is well-earned. Students and staff would do well to keep an eye out for his next sweet offering on campus.
